Legacy Dance Studio is family-owned and has been operating since 1998. Our mission is to provide students of all ages the skills they need to enjoy dance for a lifetime. Our curriculum stresses ballet technique as the base for all dances.  The types of dance offered in addition to ballet are tap, jazz, lyrical, and hip hop.  Dance conditioning and Pilates stress core strength training while individual technique classes provide the dancer the ability to concentrate on specific fundamentals of dance.  Legacy offers a variety of classes for recreational students ages 2-18 ranging from beginner to advanced. The primary focus of DanceWorks has always been to teach and nurture a love of dance through our recreational classes, competition lines, pre-school program and ballet curriculum. DanceWorks continues to inspire, motivate, and challenge all aspiring dancers in achieving their goals.

Our ballet program currently consists of four levels: Ballet Pink A & B (beginners), Ballet Blue (advanced beginners), Level 4 (intermediate) Level 5 (intermediate with pre-pointe class) Level 6 (advanced with pointe class).  Our curriculum is not focused on creating professional ballerinas but allows students to enjoy, yet be challenged by the discipline and fundamentals of ballet while still being able to participate in high school activities. DanceWorks has produced the Nutcracker Ballet since 1996, and continues to do so during the holiday season.

Our competition lines offer a more intense study of jazz, tap, lyrical and danceline. Most competition programs have a ballet requirement with a minimum total of three hours per week of dance. Auditions are held in the summer of each year following mandatory summer workshops.

Northfield Dance Academy is owned and directed by Daphne McCoy, a professor of Dance at Carleton College with an MFA in Modern Dance.

Northfield Dance Academy is a Ballet based studio that also excels in Modern, Tap, Jazz, Musical Theatre Dance and age appropriate Hip-Hop. Our mission is to give our dancer’s a solid base in technique and a love of performance and the artistry of dance. We have classes for all ages for the school year and in the summer.

Dance Impressions is a premier, student centered and award winning performing arts organization that trains students in a triple threat of dance, acting, and singing. Our goal is to develop the best in each individual performer through a combination of technical training, artistry and life lessons. Our dance program is based on the Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) syllabus with Vaganova and American influences. Our jazz, modern, lyrical and tap program is based on classic techniques with contemporary and world influences. Our acting and singing program utilizes story-telling, confidence building and technical training to bring out the best inherent performer in each student. We have three educational tracks:

Recreational Program C. This is our recreational program for those who want to keep it simple. It is designed for education, fun and convenience in dance, acting and singing with holiday and spring showcase performance opportunities.

Performance Program B. This is our competitive program. It is designed for a higher lever of training in dance, acting, and singing with a wide variety of opportunities including workshops, competitions, holiday shows, and spring showcases.

Performance Program A. This is our advanced or elite pre-professional and professional training program. This is for the serious performer who wants the best in dance, acting, and singing training. It includes multiple workshops including traveling workshops, a limited number of competitions, our holiday show, our spring showcase, and a special elite showcase. Dance training will focus on ballet, pointe and modern.

The Dance Complex’s purpose is to create and develop young artists with strong character and integrity.  They believe in the collaboration of art and excellence in technique to ultimately help students reach their highest possible individual potential.  The studio offers recreational classes, a pre-competition and competition program, and an invitation-only ballet academy.

The Dance Complex is home to a nationally recognized competition team that ranges from ages 4 – 18 year years old. Their teams train in ballet, tap, jazz, hip hop, contemporary and many other genres at intermediate & advanced levels. Auditions are required for placement on the team.

The Ballet Academy is an invitation-only ballet program that is exclusively available to dancers at The Dance Complex. Dancers who participate in TBA take an additional 3-5 hours of strict ballet per week with both resident and guest ballet instructors year round. In addition to standard technique classes, dancers will also be exposed to enrichment classes such as pointe, variations and contemporary ballet. All dancers in TBA are also given the opportunity to learn a classical variation and compete it at local competitions. A select handful will also be invited to compete at Youth America Grand Prix in the spring. For more information on TBA, please contact the studio.

The Dance Complex is also home to Darby’s Dancers Maple Grove, a non-profit organization providing specialized dance classes for children with special needs, where each dancer is paired with a volunteer coach.

North Ballet Academy seeks to inspire growth through the art of ballet. With a team of exceptional and expert staff members, North Ballet Academy offers classical ballet instruction for novice, intermediate, advanced, and adult dancers. Aimed at both the recreational dancer and the aspiring professional, North Ballet Academy provides Russian ballet instruction (Vaganova syllabus) to foster the development of the art of ballet and encourage proficiency in ballet performance and choreography. Maryann Johnson is a specialized Dance Medicine Physical Therapist. She has extensive training in treating dancers, manual therapy, orthopedic conditions and Postural Restoration. She is a graduate of University of Minnesota in Physical Therapy and a classically trained dancer. Her dance training includes the Classical Ballet Academy under Jo Savino, San Francisco Ballet, Joffrey Ballet School NYC and Pennsylvania Ballet School under Lupe Serrano. She has danced professionally with Ballet of the Dolls and other local venues. She currently teaches ballet in the Twin Cities. Maryann is a member of Minnesota Dance Medicine and International Academy of Dance Medicine and Science.
